The Learning Tools and the Record Sheets support the and fully supports the Curriculum for Excellence-Experiences and outcomes in Reading.

It consolidates the reading and allows the children to capture their thoughts and ideas using a range of communication styles. Children can capture responses through drawing, writing or retelling the events. They are learning that pictures and words are symbolic ways of communicating meaning. Parents and teachers can act as scribe to give the pictures and words a written form.

The tools in this book will help the child to develop the skills to organise, write and think both creatively and independently.

This book also includes gold, silver and bronze certificates of achievement. These certificates can be gained by the children based on the targets and expectations set by the teacher. On attaining each award, the pupil and the teacher can then set future targets.
